Therapeutic Art Sessions With Katrina
Katrina is a certified Art Therapy Practitioner and works with clients in a one-to-one and groups setting, using art as a therapeutic tool for managing mental health and chronic pain. Art and creative expression have a profound and powerful affect in regulating the nervous system, relieving stress, managing symptoms of depression and anxiety, and helping individuals to understand themselves better. Katrina works with children, teens and adults using a variety of mediums and styles to meet individuals needs and desires.
Katrina believes that creative expression is a fundamental need for all humans and that all bodies can benefit from creative ritual. Art as a holistic medium helps relieve symptoms of stress and improves emotional well being by providing a safe outlet for expressing feelings and transmuting pain. Art as an exercise builds new neuropathways in the brain, creating healthy options for our minds to orient to and finally break free of problematic patterns. Katrina uses a variety of mediums and therapeutic exercises such as neurographics, zentangles, watercolour, clay and more to help clients access parasympathic state and connect with their own inner resources.
Therapeutic art session can be beneficial for people struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, addiction, chronic pain and trauma. If you are looking for relief and an outlet for expression beyond words, Katrina would love to support you in your healing.
What a 1:1 Art Therapy Session Looks Like (1 hour)
- Arrival & Grounding (5–10 minutes): We begin with a brief check-in and a calming exercise to help you arrive fully in the space.
- Creative Process (30–35 minutes): You’ll be invited to work with materials such as paint, pastels, clay, or collage. I’ll offer gentle guidance, but you set the pace and direction.
- Reflection & Discussion (15–20 minutes): We close by looking at your artwork together, exploring insights, emotions, or themes that emerged, and connecting them back to your daily life.
Each session is flexible and shaped by your needs, but this flow gives a sense of how our time together often unfolds.
Sessions are offered in 1 or 2 hr intervals and are $120 an hour.
